I took the Slamther to both an American cruise night, and an import meet yesterday. Both crowds loved it. Huh.

Did you paint the letters? I want to try that on one of the trikes but it looks like a PITA.

I used an acrylic paint pen from Walmart. Cheap, easy, and surprisingly good results.

SSSOOOO MUCH YES!!!!!!!!!!!

Just read through your other posts. How hard was it to cut the springs? I’ve been wanting to do this to my ‘97, but I’ve never messed with suspension stuff before. Also, I need to get some steelies. Want to do the P71 style though with the dog dishes.

Cutting the springs wasn’t hard. All you need is the right spring compressor. Mine was trial and error as nobody I know has done it before, so I spent 2 days massaging the springs to get the perfect height. However, to get the rear height I have, cutting the rear springs won’t work. Instead you need SN95 GT rear lowering springs, and you need to gently massage the in-frame perches to accept the GT springs. With junkyard rear springs, isolators, and bilsteins, it came out to about $35 all-in.

Why won’t cutting the rear springs work? Is it too much to cut?

At this point I’m thinking it might just be easier to buy the custom Eaton springs and call it a day, lol.

Don’t buy the Eaton springs, they suck. Here’s what you do to achieve my fitment.

Cut 1.75 coils out of each front spring.

Buy These , sell the front ones on the internet to someone local wanting a rake. I was lucky and got junkyard ones, but if you want to go new, this is what you want.

Optional:

KYB Gas-a-Just Monotubes. Best shocks for the money, anywhere in North America. Rock Auto has them for $28.79 for each front one, and $35.79 for each rear one. KYB sometimes does a $40 off a set of 4 mail-in rebate deal. You can find a 5% discount code here .

Polyurethane sway bar bushings. These make a very significant difference. The car will corner flatter and more planted in all conditions. Here are some awesome Energy Suspension ones.

I hope this helps!

Awesome! Thanks for all the info! I thought Eaton was pretty reputable but I guess not, lol. How did all of the adjustments affect your steering? Mine is a little too floaty and loose for my liking. But I don’t want it to be like trying to open a jam jar either, ya know?

It’s not much heavier, and the on-center slop is virtually gone.
